Why isn't Dick Cheney in jail yet?!
16th-Feb-2010 12:34 am
Okay, I get it, Dick Cheney is the former vice dictator of the United States, but he was through-and-through evil.  He has, since leaving the White House, admitted that the war in Iraq was basically a fraud, and now admits to being a war criminal.  Why isn't this bigger news? WHY? I hate the American media and the way they make legitimate headlines out of celebrity catastrophes but can't seem to find the space to post an article entitled "HAI GUYZ, YOUR FORMER VICE PREZ SAID HE KNOWINGLY SPENT UR TAXPAYER DOLLARS ON AN ILLEGITIMATE WAR. HIPPIEZ 1, REPUBLICANS 0."

People should be angry.  People should be REALLY fucking angry. Instead, they are wondering if Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston are really in some creepy love triangle scenario.

We used to be like this:

This is a country I would be proud of. Instead, now we're like this:

Four people. FOUR. And yes, I am aware that there have been bigger protests, but frankly if you try to compare the reactions to the two wars, there's really no contest as to which unjustified war got the attention it deserved.

I really need to move to Europe.

If it consoles you, I don't pay attention to the tabloids much. Yeah, Jon and Kate got my blood boiling, but that was because MSN broadcast their divorce more than politics.

In regards to Dick Cheney: I think that there is a place for this creep, and whether it's jail, hell, or both, he'll end up in one of them one day. I've wanted our troops coming home since this whole debacle started, but I feel like there's little I can personally do to stop anything. Maybe that's the problem - not enough of us feel like we can make a difference.

Well, I know I sound like I'm blaming the media for everything- which I assure you I'm not, there are multiple factors for that feeling of lethargy and uselessness- but the fact that you can't find a truly unbiased news source, or that every media outlet leaves out major facts- that's huge. A lot of people only have one stop for their news and if that outlet fails to mention something important... that audience stays in the dark.

...because that's probably not even in my state... I've been to some of the protests, I went in high school.
